An furious client who was upset over the amount of mayonnaise on their sandwich pulled out a gun and started shooting, killing a young worker at a Subway fast food shop.

Police in the US city of Atlanta are surprised by the shooting; one senior officer has referred to it as “stupid.”

Following claims that someone had been shot, police were called to a gas station.

Officers were appalled to learn that two ladies had been attacked in a quarrel over a sandwich when they arrived, according to local television station WSB-TV.

In the slaughter, one of the young women lost her life and another female worker suffered serious injuries.

“It just breaks my heart, to know that someone has the audacity to point a weapon, and shoot someone for as little as too much mayonnaise on a sandwich,” takeaway co-owner Willie Glenn said.

He confirmed both girls had started working at Subway just three weeks ago, and were “model employees”.

Interim chief of police Darin Schierbaum said arguments are the majority cause of homicides in 2022.

He told the channel: “An argument leads to someone picking up a weapon and firing that gun, leaving someone dead or someone critically injured.

“I’m here to speak to the ridiculous nature of crime.

“We need individuals to talk out their disputes, walk away and do not pick up guns. We can take down drug operations that breed violent crime, we can dismantle gang organisations that breed violent crime, we can stop robbery crews that breed violent crime, we cannot stop someone who is mad because there is too much mayonnaise on their sandwich.”

Another Subway shop co-owner, Al Robinson, called the shooting “simply too much.”
