Since army chief Abdel Fattah al-power Burhan’s grab on October 25; undermined a delicate transition to civilian government. Sudan has been rocked by escalating discontent and a violent crackdown against near-weekly mass protests.

“It’s absolutely intolerable that 99 people have been killed and over 5,000 people have been injured as a result of the combined security forces’ excessive use of force,” Adama Dieng told reporters, citing a toll provided by pro-democracy doctors.

He urged authorities to “move quickly” in their investigations into the deaths of protestors.
