Michigan Air Show: Man dies after truck using jet engines crashes 

• The custom-built race truck was equipped with three jet engines and a combined 36,000 horsepower.
• It crashed during the pyrotechnic portion of the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival.
• Chris Darnell, the driver of the truck, was killed.

At a Michigan air show, a “jet truck” caught fire and burst into flames on Saturday afternoon. This incident left one person dead, according to reports.

According to the given information, the Shockwave Jet however competes against two planes at speeds of up to 300 mph when it burst into flames in front of witnesses.

Around 1:10 pm, an explosion occurred at the Battle Creek Field of Flight Air Show and Balloon Festival. Emergency personnel responded.

The Battle Creek Police Department confirmed that the driver, Chris Darnell, 40, had passed away.

The accident is still being investigated by Battle Creek Fire, Battle Creek Police, and Federal Aviation Administration authorities, according to police, who stated no new information was available.

Social media users shared videos of the explosion, which happened at the Field of Flight air show.

While emergency personnel dealt with the explosion, the program however put on hold.
