According to a press statement from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation determined that Deborrah Collier, 59, died as a result of the inhalation of “superheated gases,” thermal injuries, and hydrocodone intoxication.
In accordance with an incident report, the van was unlocked and empty. According to the report, a K-9 search of the nearby woods turned up what seemed to be fire remnants and a partially burned blue tarp.

They discovered a naked woman lying on her back nearby. According to the report, she had burns on her belly and was holding a small tree in her right hand.

According to an incident report, Collier’s last known communication was a text message to her daughter in which she said, “They won’t let me go, there is a key to the house underneath a flower pot.”

Authorities earlier declared that there was no new evidence to support the claims that Collier was abducted or killed by a serial murderer. Additionally, the sheriff’s office claimed that there was no proof connecting her death to suicide.

The sheriff’s office stated on September 30 that “at this time, the investigation is leading us to the idea that Mrs. Collier’s death was personal and targeted.”

The sheriff’s office received the autopsy results on Thursday, according to a spokesman for the state law enforcement agency.

On September 11, Collier was discovered in the woods of north Georgia naked and half burned. Her van, which was connected to a missing persons report, was recovered on the side of a state road in Clarkesville, according to authorities, and they later discovered her death there.
