Queen Rania of Jordan strongly criticized Western leaders for what she described as a “glaring double standard” in their response to the Israeli bombardment in Gaza and the worsening humanitarian crisis.

She highlighted that over 5,700 Palestinians in Gaza have lost their lives in the airstrikes, including more than 2,300 children, 1,200 women, and 295 elderly individuals.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with over 16,200 people wounded, and hospitals struggling due to low supplies resulting from the Israeli blockade imposed since October 7 in response to Hamas attacks.

Queen Rania, who has Palestinian heritage, expressed deep disappointment with the world’s reaction to the unfolding catastrophe.

She criticized the Western world’s response as a “glaring double standard” and stated that many in the Arab world perceive the support for Israel as tantamount to assisting in the mass killing of Gaza’s civilians.

She pointed out the contrast in the world’s reaction, noting that when events unfolded on October 7, the international community swiftly and unambiguously supported Israel’s right to self-defense and condemned the attack.

However, in recent weeks, she observed a notable silence and a lack of calls for a ceasefire, which she found unprecedented in modern history.

Queen Rania expressed that the silence, from the perspective of many in the region, implicates the Western world in the ongoing crisis.

Queen Rania questioned the double standard in the response, saying, “Are we being told that it is wrong to kill a family, an entire family, at gunpoint, but it’s OK to shell them to death? I mean, there is a glaring double standard here.” She also described the situation as “shocking to the Arab world.”
