Robert De Niro discusses something serious about Donald Trump
Renowned Hollywood actor Robert De Niro delivered a stern warning against the potential re-election of former US President Donald Trump, labeling him a “wannabe dictator” who would undermine democracy if he were to return to the White House.
De Niro emphasized, “This is our last chance. Democracy won’t survive the return of a wannabe dictator, and it won’t overcome evil if we are divided.”
In a powerful statement, the 80-year-old actor disclosed that he had extensively studied individuals with malevolent qualities, dissecting their characteristics, demeanor, and the sheer banality of their cruelty.
He remarked that there was something distinct about Donald Trump, stating, “When I look at him, I don’t see a bad man. Truly. I see an evil one.”
De Niro continued by highlighting his encounters with various individuals over the years, including those with questionable morals.
He said, “Even criminals usually have a sense of right and wrong. Whether they do the right thing or not is a different story, but they have a moral code, however warped.”
However, De Niro asserted, “Donald Trump does not. He’s a wannabe tough guy. With no morals or ethics. No sense of right or wrong. No regard for anyone but himself: Not the people he was supposed to lead and protect, not the people he does business with, not the people who follow him blindly and loyally, not even the people who consider themselves as friends. He has contempt for all of them.”
The actor also criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, likening it to “an abusive father, ruling the family by fear and violent behavior.”
De Niro encouraged critics of the former president not to underestimate his potential comeback, stating, “Evil thrives in the shadow of dismissive mockery, which is why we must take the danger of Donald Trump very seriously.”
He stressed the importance of reaching out to those who have supported Trump, urging a respectful approach without mentioning democracy.
De Niro suggested discussing matters of right and wrong, humanity, kindness, safety, and decency as a way to connect with them.
