UAE: Mother Prays for Aid to Separate Conjoined Twins
In order to separate her newborn daughters, a mother of conjoined twins united at the pelvis prays for assistance.
The twins can have surgery to separate them when they turn one year old, but the procedure will probably cost about Dh1 million, according to the medical staff.
“I’ve sent an appeal to humanitarian agencies to help us separate the twins,” the twins’ mother, Sumaiya Albalushi, said.
Her spouse works as a sales representative and makes Dh5,000 a month. The couple claimed they were unable to pay for the surgery.
On November 20, Albalushi gave birth via cesarean section at a Sharjah hospital.
The Pakistani couple’s first child is a set of twins. The woman did not exhibit any particular symptoms associated with the conjoined twins during her pregnancy, and an ultrasound scan did not clearly reveal their conjoined nature. But after she gave birth, they found that the children were bonded to one another.
The twins are now in the hospital’s intensive care unit, or ICU. They underwent an urgent surgical procedure because they lacked a stool-passing hole.
In ten days, the twins will leave the intensive care unit, and a month later, they will be released from the hospital.
The separation procedure is dependent on the circumstances, according to medical staff. These situations are uncommon, so preparation is needed long in advance of the split. The twins’ weight must be suitable, and their bodies must perform as intended.
The twins will have to spend a month in the hospital following their separation.
The mother is being educated and trained by the medical team on how to take care of the twins.
