In a horrifying incident that unfolded on Saturday evening, an elderly man in his 80s killed his wife and two adult children before turning the gun on himself at their home in Granada Hills, according to local authorities. The grim episode took place at around 7 pm on Lerdo Avenue, as reported by ABC7.

The police were alerted to the scene by an individual who witnessed the tragedy unfold inside the house. After receiving no response at the door, officers entered the residence and were guided by the witness to the victims. Reports indicate that the witness had barricaded themselves in a room during the shooting and subsequently called the police. However, details about the identity of this person were not immediately disclosed.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Captain Kelly Muniz addressed the media during a press conference on Saturday night, describing the scene as “terrifying and horrific.” He emphasized the tragic nature of the incident, with all four individuals involved found deceased. Muniz noted the only positive aspect was the survival of the witness who reported the incident.

The suspect, identified as a man in his 80s, reportedly shot and killed his wife, also in her 80s, and their two adult children, a man and a woman in their 40s. The authorities discovered the elderly man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a different part of the house.

Neighbors in the area expressed shock upon learning about the tragic events near their homes. One neighbor, who stopped by the scene, mentioned not having had the opportunity to meet the victims.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the area around Lerdo Avenue remained closed off for most of the night. The authorities are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking murder-suicide that claimed the lives of four family members.
