France confirms that two French aid workers have died in Ukraine war
On Friday, French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne confirmed that a Russian drone attack in the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson had killed two French volunteer aid workers. Reports from the regional governor and other officials had earlier indicated the same.
Sejourne stated on the social media platform X, ‘Russian barbarity has targeted civilians in Ukraine. Two French aid workers have lost their lives due to their commitment to the Ukrainian people, and three others sustained injuries.
He added that Russia ‘will have to answer for its crimes.’ French President Emmanuel Macron, in a post on X, referred to Thursday’s killings as a ‘cowardly and disgraceful act.
“My support goes to all volunteers who engage in helping other nations,” he added.
Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin announced on Thursday, via the Telegram messaging app, that the Russian attack on the town of Beryslav resulted in the death of two French nationals and the injury of three other foreigners.
Beryslav, located on the western bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson, had been abandoned by Russian forces in late 2022.
