London Acid Attack: Man Targets 9 Victims, Including Children
In a shocking incident on Wednesday, a man targeted nine victims, including children, in an acid attack on Clapham’s Lessar Avenue in London. Authorities have initiated a search for the assailant, who reportedly fled the scene after the attack. Media reports in the UK revealed that at least eight people, including responding officers, were injured in the incident.
Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service, were quick to respond to the scene at around 7:25 pm. Immediate medical attention was provided to three children and a woman. Five individuals, including the injured officers, were transported to a major trauma center for further treatment.
Marina Ahmad, a member of the London Assembly for Lambeth and Southwark, described the incident as a traffic collision involving a man assaulting occupants in a car and throwing acid. Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle addressed the media, stating that the substance used in the attack is believed to be corrosive, though tests are ongoing to confirm its nature.
“We are drawing on resources from across the Met to apprehend this individual, and work is ongoing to determine what has led to this awful incident,” said Castle. “The National Police Air Service is assisting us. The incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation, with authorities emphasizing the urgency of identifying and apprehending the assailant. The motive behind the attack is currently under investigation, and the public is urged to come forward with any relevant information that may assist in solving the case.
