China Prepares to Ship First 300 Electric Buses
A major advancement in Islamabad’s public transportation system is underway, with the imminent departure of the first batch of electric buses from China.
Comprising 30 buses out of a larger fleet of 150, these electric vehicles are set to arrive in Karachi within the next three weeks before making their way to Islamabad.
This shipment represents a significant milestone in the city’s shift towards sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options.
Upon reaching Islamabad in May after customs clearance, the buses will begin operations under the oversight of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) through the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC).
The Convention Centre will serve as the starting point for their temporary operation, utilizing existing charging infrastructure until a dedicated depot at Zero Point is established.
This initiative aligns with Islamabad’s goal of promoting sustainable mobility and reducing carbon emissions from public transport, demonstrating the city’s commitment to embracing innovative solutions for cleaner and greener commuting options.
