Dubai declares free parking for Eid Al Fitr holidays
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced ahead of the Eid Al Fitr holidays that all public parking in Dubai, except for multi-level parking terminals, will be free of charge from Ramadan 29 until Shawwal 3. The authority stated that tariffs will resume on Shawwal 4. This means motorists can enjoy longer days of free parking, starting from Sunday, April 7, which is the regular no-pay parking day, as Ramadan 29 corresponds to Monday, April 8.
If the crescent moon is spotted on Monday, it would mark the last day of Ramadan, and Eid Al Fitr will commence on Tuesday, April 9. Parking will be free for five days until Shawwal 3, April 11, Thursday, with tariffs resuming on Friday, April 12.
If the moon is not sighted, the holy month will extend to 30 days, and the Islamic festival will be on April 10, with Shawwal 3 falling on April 12. This results in public parking being free for six days, as tariffs resume on Saturday, April 13.
The RTA also announced that during Eid Al Fitr, Dubai Metro will operate with extended hours.
The RTA has announced that it will make adjustments to the operating hours of public and intercity buses. Commuters are advised to check the S’hail App for updates. Operating hours for marine transport, including water taxi, Dubai Ferry, and abra, are also available on the RTA app.
During Eid Al Fitr, service centers will be closed from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, with work resuming on Shawwal 4. Vehicle testing service will only be available on Ramadan 29 and Shawwal 3. All Customer Happiness Centers will be closed during the holidays, except for the kiosks or smart customer centers in Umm Ramool, Deira, Barsha, Al Kifaf, and the RTA head office, which will remain operational 24/7 as usual.
