Missile fired from Yemen intercepted by Israeli forces; Israel says
According to the Israeli military, surface-to-surface missile launched from Yemen toward central Israel on Monday was intercepted.
The missile triggered air raid sirens across vast areas of central Israel, prompting residents to seek shelter.
“Following the sirens in several parts of central Israel, the surface-to-surface missile fired from Yemen was successfully intercepted by the Israeli Air Force,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
The statement did not specify who was responsible for the launch. However, the Iran-backed Houthi movement, which controls northern Yemen, has frequently targeted Israel in the past year, citing support for the Palestinians as the reason for its attacks.
