Saudi Arabia to open Itikaf registration for two holy mosques on March 5
The General Authority for Care of the Two Holy Mosques in Saudi Arabia has announced that registration for Itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah will open on March 5.
Starting Wednesday, Saudi authorities will begin the registration process, which will remain open until all available slots for the ritual are filled. Registration will commence at 11 AM (local time) through the authority’s official website.
Permits for Itikaf will be issued via the online platform, adhering to specific conditions and criteria set by the authorities.
Itikaf is a religious practice observed during the last ten days of Ramadan, during which Muslims dedicate themselves to worship and prayer in seclusion at a mosque. This spiritual retreat, following the example of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), offers an opportunity for believers to strengthen their connection with Allah, away from worldly distractions.
The Itikaf period will begin on Ramadan 20 (March 20) and continue until the end of the holy month.
With Ramadan having begun in Saudi Arabia on March 1, thousands of worshippers are expected to participate in the ritual at the two holy mosques.
