US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is reducing the 50-day deadline he had given to Russian President Vladimir Putin to just 10 to 12 days to agree to a peace deal with Ukraine.

Speaking from his golf resort in Turnberry, Scotland, along with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump told reporters that he is setting a new, shorter deadline. He said there’s no point in waiting any longer and that while he wants to be generous, there hasn’t been any progress.

Trump also repeated his warning to Putin about the possibility of new penalties, saying there could be sanctions or even secondary tariffs. He said he doesn’t want to do that to Russia, but it might be necessary.
