U.S. double standards: Sanctions imposed on Palestinian authority and PLO
America has imposed new sanctions on the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), raising concerns over its double standards in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
While the U.S. continues to talk about peace and ceasefire, it also seems firmly aligned with Israeli interests. The new sanctions come with accusations that the Palestinian groups are blocking peace efforts.
According to the U.S. State Department, individuals affected by the sanctions will not be granted visas to enter America. However, no specific names have been mentioned yet.
The statement said that the move is in America’s national security interest. It also claimed that the Palestinian Authority and PLO should be held responsible for not honoring their commitments.
The U.S. has also accused both groups of continuing to support terrorism and using platforms like the International Court of Justice to escalate the conflict.
These sanctions have been announced just days before U.S. special envoy Stuart Cohen is expected to arrive in Israel. At a time when Israel is already under global pressure due to the ongoing Gaza war, America’s decision to sanction Palestinian groups has sparked fresh criticism.
