Iran Air has launched its first-ever direct flight route connecting Quetta, Zahedan, and Mashhad, marking the start of regular commercial air service between these culturally rich cities.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mohammad Mudassir Tipu, welcomed the move, calling it the fulfillment of a long-standing regional demand.

“I’m delighted that Iran Air has started direct flights between Quetta, Zahedan, and Mashhad. These three historic cities have huge potential, and this service will boost business, tourism, and people-to-people ties,” he said. He also stressed that Pakistan and Iran, given their shared borders and economic needs, are committed to increasing air connectivity even further.

The first flight landed at Quetta International Airport on Friday, where a ceremony was held to mark the occasion. For now, Iran Air will operate one weekly flight between Quetta and Zahedan.

This development comes shortly after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that Pakistani pilgrims will not be allowed to travel to Iran or Iraq by road for this year’s Arbaeen pilgrimage due to security concerns. Naqvi said the decision was made after discussions with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Balochistan government, and security agencies.
