US President Donald Trump said that Iran still has “21, 22 percent” of its missiles left, after Tehran fired dozens across the region during a week marked by repeated violations of a fragile ceasefire.

Speaking to NBC News, Trump said Iran still possesses some missile and drone capabilities, estimating that about 21 to 22 percent of its missile stockpile remains intact.

His latest estimate is higher than the 18 percent figure he mentioned in May, despite previously claiming that Iran’s war-fighting capabilities had been largely destroyed.

Meanwhile, Iran’s military claimed it fired “warning missiles” at two US destroyers in the Gulf of Oman on Friday, although the US military rejected the claim.

Earlier in the week, Kuwait said it had intercepted 30 ballistic missiles, describing the incident as an act of Iranian aggression.

Despite weeks of negotiations, threats and periodic violence, efforts to secure an agreement to end the conflict have not succeeded. However, Trump said Iran has no option but to reach a deal, adding that the country may have to accept steps it never expected to consider.
