
The Cambridge International has announced to cancel all examinations scheduled to be held in May and June this year in Pakistan as health experts are urging social distancing as the effective measure to contain global coronavirus pandemic spread.
Earlier this week Pakistan had requested the Cambridge authorities to postpone examinations after the country closed educational institutions as COVID-19 cases have rapidly increasing in the country.
According to an official statement issued by the Cambridge International on Friday, “As you know, on advice from the government of Pakistan, all school exams in Pakistan in May have been cancelled. This includes both local and international exams.”
Earlier, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said that the decision has been taken to postpone O and A level in a meeting where Ms Uzma Yousaf, head of Cambridge in Pakistan was also present.
Federal Minister for education took to Twitter and stated “To review the latest situation re closure of schools I held a meeting today with provincial education ministers and senior education officials. It was decided that O and A level exams of Cambridge due in May and June, would be postponed. Cambridge will announce new dates.”
