
The Taliban has released 40 more Afghan security forces soldiers under the Doha Accords.
According to details, Sohail Shaheen, spokesman for the Taliban’s political office, said “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan released 40 soldiers of the Kabul Administration in Kunduz Province today afternoon.”
“The Islamic Emirate is trying to speed up prisoners’ release process in order to save lives of the prisoners from the risk of the coronavirus desease,” the spokesperson added.

It may be recalled that the Taliban had earlier released 40 personnel in two phases while the Afghan government had released 430 Taliban.
On the other hand, international analysts with a keen eye on the Afghan war praised the Afghan government’s move.
They hoped that this strategy would help the Afghan leadership and the Taliban to come to the negotiating table. However, there are differences between the parties on a number of important issues due to which the talks are not moving forward.
