
LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon lay the foundation stone of the Skill Technology Park in Lahore to apprise students of information technology and tech companies.
Chairing a meeting at the Civil Secretariat on Thursday, he said that the first state-of-the-art the park will be set up at Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Secretariat. The meeting reviewed measures to promote quality technical education and performance of TEVTA institutions.
Iqbal said that the park which would be completed at the cost of Rs4 billion in three years will become a hub of information technology and tech companies. He said that the government has also formulated the Chief Minister’s Digital Skills Program 2021-23. Under this program, quality training will be provided to 100,000 youths in coming two years. He asked for starting evening classes at TEVTA institutions with half fee to teach and train students. He also asked for devising institutional policy to encourage the position-holder students. TEVTA chairman Ali Salman Siddique, Secretary Industries Dr Wasif and officers concerned attended the meeting.
