Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated on Thursday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was dedicated to the preservation of trees.

“Our government is dedicated to [the] preservation of our trees and every tree is being saved including saving and replanting trees that need to be removed from a particular location,” he said in a tweet.

A day earlier (October 13), PM had “in principle” approved the “National Climate Change Policy, 2021” and “National Wildlife Policy, 2021″.

“The Prime Minister accorded in principle approval for the “National Climate Change Policy, 2021” and “National Wildlife Policy, 2021,” and directed that a special zone in the Margalla Hills be declared as a leopard preservation zone,” the PM Office had said in a series of tweets on Wednesday.

Last month, lauding the “Billion Tree Tsunami programme,” United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson had urged the world to follow PM Imran, in combating the challenge of climate change.

“We are going to plant millions of trees in the UK but I was blown away [by the billion tree project]. I would like to invite everybody to follow the example of Imran Khan of Pakistan who has pledged to plant ten billion trees in Pakistan alone,” Johnson had said during his address to the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
