Former India batter, Gautam Gambhir has declared Australian cricketer, David Warner’s six-off a ‘shameful’ act and against the ‘sprit of cricket’ as the ball was slipped from the hand of Veteran Pakistan all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez during the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final between Pakistan and Australia.
After Hafeez started his first spell, the all-rounder lost the grip from the ball and the ball bounced twice toward the leg-side, Warner took full advantage of that ball, came out of the crease and smashed the ball into the stands.
Gambhir took to Twitter and accused Warner of ‘steeling runs’. He wrote, “What an absolutely pathetic display of spirit of the game by Warner! Shameful!”

While talking in an interview on international media he said, “[Australia legends] Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting talk a lot about sportsmanship, let’s see what they have to say about this. It’s easy to criticise people but difficult when it’s your own players. The ball slipped from Hafeez’s hand, Warner shouldn’t have done that, he stole six runs.”
Pakistan could not secure their spot in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup and suffered a narrow five-wicket defeat against Australia in Dubai on Thursday.
