KARACHI: The Korangi industrial area is experiencing a gas shortage, despite government official’s repeated assurance of uninterrupted supply, an official of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) said.
Kati president Salman Aslam expressed concern over the reduction and shortage of gas pressure in Korangi Industrial Area.
He said that the trade adviser of the prime minister and ministers had assured that uninterrupted supply of gas to the industrial area and export industry would continue, but despite that the problem of gas shortage in the Korangi industrial area is getting serious.
Aslam said that the Korangi Industrial Area has an important position in exports and the top exporters of the country are from Korangi industries.
The Kati president said the industrialists are facing difficulties in completing the export orders on time, due to which they fear financial loss.
Aslam demanded that the government should ensure supply of gas to industrial areas on priority basis adding that the government was taking all possible steps for the promotion of the industry and hoped that a solution to the gas problem facing the industries would be found soon.
