KARACHI: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Thursday said the Green Line buses will start their operation in Karachi from December 25.

Addressing media in Karachi, flanked by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, governor Sindh said Prime Minister Imran Khan would inaugurate the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project on December 10.

“The buses will first run on a trial period in the city for 15 days,” he said adding that despite the coronavirus situation, buses would start their operation on time.

For the last 13 years, the Pakistan Peoples Party government had not given even a single bus to the megalopolis, he added.

Planning Minister Asad Umar said the federal government had taken up five mega projects under the Karachi Transformation Plan in September last year.

“Solid development is being made on other four mega projects of the metropolis as well which are being developed by the federal government,” he said.

He apprised media that foreign companies were also taking interest in the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project. While, he said, the bulk water project, K4, will be completed by September 2023. Under the K4 project, the city would be provided 260 million gallon water, he maintained.

Asad Umar said the centre had cleaned three big nullahs of Karachi. Work on Mehmoodabad nullah had been completed and it would be opened in the next two months.

The federation had fulfilled its responsibilities, he said.
