LAHORE: Punjab Government Spokesperson Hasaan Khawar assured on Thursday that the local government elections in the province will be held on time and warned the opposition to brace itself for a ‘defeat’.
“Local bodies elections in Punjab will be held on time and the opposition should remain ready for a comprehensive defeat,” said the spokesperson while addressing the Hamdard Naunehal Assembly at the Children’s Library Complex in Lahore.
Taking a jibe at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party, Khawar alleged that the opposition does not believe in any election or political system where there is no victory for the “royal family”.

The spokesperson said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar was “focused on improving governance and service delivery”.
“Departmental performance reports are being sought from every department and action is being taken against the negligent officers,” assured Khawar. The chief minister has directed the bureaucracy for swift resolution of ongoing and pending issues and projects of public interest as well as effective eradication of institutional corruption, he added.
