ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday launched ‘Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive’ at Jinnah Stadium Sports Complex, Islamabad.

In its first phase, 12 different games for males and 10 for females would be arranged across 25 regions under the talent hunt programme.

Addressing the inaugural event, PM Imran Khan said through his 21 years of experience he could tell that why sports was essential for youth. When you learned to fight in the arenas of sports you learned to win and also learned to understand defeat, he said.

“You stand back after falling down. In reality, you only lose when you surrender after being defeated. When you learn from mistakes and reattempt again and again you become better. I have learnt through my cricket career that you never have to lose hope after losing a match,” he said.

The prime minister said sports were good for health too. Health was a gift of God and you had to take care of your health through maintaining it in good shape, he said.

He also apprised that the government had decided to create sports grounds for the youth. So far 300 grounds had been made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 260 in Punjab, he said adding that the government would try that every union council had its own ground. We would like to spread a network of sports grounds across Pakistan, he maintained.

PM Imran said the government was making efforts that Pakistan fully participated in international level sports. “The talent hunt programme, making grounds and forming centres of excellence to polish the talent are part of the same efforts,” he said adding that Pakistan’s sports bodies needed complete reformation for this purpose.

“Our sports bodies would be reformed as we have brought new policies to end the mafias sitting in the sports boards. I hope that out of these youth, Pakistan will get fresh talent,” he said.
