LAHORE: Punjab chief secretary Kamran Ali Afzal has directed expediting work on the ongoing development schemes under the annual development programme (ADP), a statement said.
Chairing a meeting to review the implementation of Rs560 billion ADP, he directed the administrative secretaries of all the departments to issue pending work orders immediately as per the rules. Additional chief secretary (Home), administrative secretaries and members of the P&D board attended the meeting.
The chief secretary said the development schemes are important for the socioeconomic uplift, business activities and employment generation. He directed ensuring timely utilisation of funds and transparency in the projects.
He directed the higher education, livestock, environment, transport, human rights, social welfare, mines and minerals, food and labour department secretaries to improve the utilisation of funds.
The administrative secretaries should regularly review the development schemes of their departments, he said and appreciated the P&D Board for timely approval of uplift schemes.
P&D secretary Mujahid Sher Dil briefed the meeting on the allocated funds, their releases and utilisation. Of the 4,680 pending schemes, 4,406 have been approved and Rs 278 billion of the total allocated funds of Rs560 billion have been released.
P&D chairman Abdullah Khan Sumbal asked the departments to follow the guidelines regarding the ADP and send details of excess and release the same by December 10.
