Pak vs Aus: Pakistan makes history in second Test

Pakistan cricket team displayed a spectacular performance in the last inning against Australia to draw the second Test match at the National Stadium, Karachi.

One of the main highlights of the inning was skipper Babar Azam’s astounding century.

Pakistan made history by playing the most number of overs to draw a five-day Test match.

The national squad played 171.4 overs in the last inning, leading the match to a draw. In the final inning Babar (196), Abdullah Shafidue (96) and Mohammad Rizwan (104) played a sensational inning restricting the Kangaroos from winning the match.

HISTORY: Pakistan survived 171.4 overs to save Karachi Test. The most overs a team played to draw a 5-day-Test. Pakistan played 1030 balls in 4th innings to draw this game. England had played 165 overs to draw v S Africa in 1995, Australia played 124×8 in 1950 v S Africa to draw.

Earlier, the record was held by England where they played 165 overs to draw the game against South Africa in 1995, while the Aussies played 124 overs to end the match without any result against the same team – the Proteas – in 1950.

Pakistan is the first team in the five-day Test match and the overall second team in Test cricket to play more than 1000 balls in the last inning to save the game.

England is the only team to have played the most number of balls in the last inning against South Africa in 1939, where they played 218.2 of 8-ball overs.
