The United States is making preparations in case Russia uses nuclear weapons

The White House has assembled a team of experts to devise a strategy for how the United States would respond if Russia used chemical, biological, or nuclear weapons.

According to one US official, the strategy group is working “to monitor and mitigate risks while considering how to advance and defend US interests.”

“We haven’t seen any indication that the Russians are prepared to use weapons of mass destruction inside Ukraine,” Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said. If that happened, there would be a significant reaction from both the US and the international community.”
