Jay Brewer, the founder and president of Reptile Zoo Prehistoric Inc. in the United States, recently posted a video on Instagram showing him cleaning the back of a baby alligator with a toothbrush.

Albino alligators are quite uncommon. They are the children of parents who suffer from albinism, a recessive disease that stops them from creating melanin, the pigment that gives their skin and eyes colour. Their skin is yellowish-white, and prominent blood veins in their colourless irises give their eyes a reddish tinge.

Jay Brewer is well known for his reticulated python morphs, or colour and pattern alterations. He has a massive Instagram following of about 6 million people.

“I think Coconut really likes her scrubs,” Jay captioned the video on Instagram. The video shows Jay tenderly bathing a young female albino alligator named Coconut at the reptile zoo.

“We’re gonna take a little water and we’re gonna give coconut a little back scratch,” Jay says in the video as he grips the baby alligator’s back. Jay opens her lips wide as she begins to clean Coconut, as though she is enjoying the back-scratching.

The video has received over 432K likes, with fans filling the emojis with smiling emojis and labelling the gator as “cute.”
