Will Harry and Meghan attend the Academy Awards?

Harry and Meghan have been asked to present an award at the Oscars next weekend.

At the end of last year, the couple was approached and offered their choice of gongs.

They are said to be lining up to reveal Best Picture, the night’s most coveted award.

If the Duke does attend, he will undoubtedly face backlash from royal fans, especially since he opted out of Prince Philip’s memorial service in London.

The pair were initially considered to present the Best Actress award, but this was ruled out because actress Kristen Stewart is nominated for her role in Spencer, a film about Princess Diana’s life.

“Harry and Meghan were first approached for the ceremony two years ago but politely declined,” a US source said.

“Obviously, they’d be a huge coup this year, and they could use their appearance to make an impassioned speech of their choice, most likely about Ukraine.”

“Show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan have lined up some incredible A-list names to take the stage, and Harry and Meghan would be the cherry on top.”

“It’s still up in the air, but in all likelihood — especially in the wake of recent publicity — Harry won’t attend.

“It would be seen as a final kick in the teeth for the royal family if he did — he’s too nervous to fly to London without police protection, but happy to stand up in front of a huge live audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Not great optics.”
