3 injured 26 arrested in Sweden protests
After right-wing extremists burnt the Quran, demonstrators clashed with police in Sweden, resulting in a riot-like situation in numerous towns over the Easter weekend.
During a riot in Sweden, police say they fired warning bullets to disperse demonstrators enraged over anti-Islam demonstrations staged by a Danish group over the previous several days.
During the fights, three people were slightly injured.
A throng of roughly 150 protesters pelted cops and police vehicles with stones and set fire to cars.
Police claimed they fired warning shots in response, and “three persons appear to have been struck by ricochets” and were transported to the hospital in Norrkoping, which has a population of roughly 130,000 people and is around 100 miles south of Stockholm.
“All three injured are arrested on suspicion of crime,” police said, adding that none of them had serious injuries.
Several riot police officers were seen bringing a wounded guy to an ambulance, according to a photographer for Swedish news agency TT on the site.
The brawl began on Thursday, following meetings and planned Koran burnings in numerous Swedish cities and towns by Danish far-right lawmaker Rasmus Paludan.
