Anya Shrubsole, the two-time Women’s World Cup and the inaugural T20 World Cup winner for England, has decided to call it a day after a stellar 14-year career.

During England’s journey to the final of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022, Shrubsole (30) took nine wickets at 29.66. In England’s 71-run defeat to Australia in the final, she had the greatest performance of the tournament, with figures of 3/46.

The pacer will compete in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, Charlotte Edwards Cup, and The Hundred in domestic cricket.

“I feel immensely privileged to have been able to represent my country for the past 14 years,” Shrubsole said in a statement announcing her decision.

“It has been an honor to be a part of women’s cricket at such a pivotal period in its development, but it has become evident that it is advancing at a pace that I cannot keep up with, and it is time for me to move aside”.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself being able to play for England for such a long time; I would have been content with just one game. There have been many ups and downs along the way, but winning the ICC Women’s World Cup at Lord’s in 2017 was well worth it.”

Her greatest moment in international cricket occurred in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 final against India at Lord’s, when she pulled off an incredible comeback to help England win their fourth World Cup championship.

Shrubsole produced a spectacular collapse for India, who lost seven wickets for 28 runs in the space of six overs while chasing a target of 229 runs. England won by nine runs, with Shrubsole’s 6/46 being the best bowling figures ever in a Women’s World Cup final.
