Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins dies in a dump truck accident.

“With the untimely passing of Dwayne Haskins, I am devastated and at a loss for words,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement on Saturday. “Dwayne was a fantastic teammate, but he was also a fantastic friend to a lot of people.” I’m completely heartbroken.”

Ashley Roethlisberger took to twitter and penned a heart warming message over his death.

“He came to work everyday with a smile on his face and energy and love in his heart,” Roethlisberger wrote. “I really enjoyed his passion and love for the game and wanting to learn and be the best. His smile and zeal for life will be missed!

“Wish we had more time together on this earth, but I will cherish the time and the laughs we had! I’ll say it again just like I told you to your face, I still wish I could throw the ball like you!! Love ya pal.”

Haskins was 24 years old at the time. The young quarterback died after being struck by a dump truck on a Florida roadway, according to the Associated Press.

“He was simply strolling on the roadway when he was struck,” Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Indiana Miranda told the Associated Press. Haskins was on the road, but she didn’t specify why.

In 2019, Haskins was picked by the National Football League. He played two seasons with the Washington Commanders before joining the Steelers last year (then the Washington Redskins).

On Saturday, Commanders coach Ron Rivera commented, “I am tremendously sorry to hear the news of Dwayne Haskins Jr’s demise.” “Dwane was a gifted young man with a bright future ahead of him. This is a really difficult moment for me, and I’m at a loss for words. ”

Haskins was a standout for the Ohio State Buckeyes before his brief NFL career, and the team mourned his death on Saturday.
