Local officials say a man thought to have aided federal investigators and media probing into Deutsche Bank was discovered dead in Los Angeles.

According to CBS News, Val Broeksmit, the adoptive son of late Deutsche Bank CEO William Broeksmit, was discovered dead on Monday morning by a cleaning staff. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner, the 45-year-old was confirmed deceased on the Woodrow Wilson High School grounds about 7 a.m. The cause of death is being investigated through an autopsy.

Police at the high school said they don’t have any footage of Broeksmit entering on campus and don’t know how long he was there. A police representative informed the Daily Mail on Wednesday that Broeksmit’s death is being examined as a “undetermined death.”

Broeksmit, whose father committed himself in 2014, was the subject of a 2019 New York Times feature titled “Me and My Whistle-Blower” by David Enrich, the business investigations editor. In April 2021, Enrich tweeted that a missing person report had been made with the Los Angeles Police Department, and he begged for the public’s help in finding Broeksmit.

According to the City News Service, he was last seen driving a red Mini Cooper on Riverside Drive in Griffith Park on the afternoon of April 6, 2021.
