Following Will Smith’s Oscars slap, the Tony Awards have issued a ‘no violence’ policy

Following the onstage Oscars slap by actor Will Smith, the producers of the 75th Annual Tony Awards have issued a warning to attendees that the upcoming awards presentation has a “strict no violence policy.”

The caution was included in the FAQ part of a letter sent out by the company to ticket holders for the event on June 12 at Radio City Music Hall.

“In the event of an incident, the perpetrator will be removed from the event immediately,” the letter said.

The letter also highlighted a number of other conditions, such as the event’s dress code and the Covid-19 policy, which demands visitors to be fully vaccinated before attending.

The ‘no violence’ warning comes only weeks after Smith shocked Hollywood and the world by hitting comedian Chris Rock onstage during the 94th Academy Awards live broadcast on March 27 over a joke about his wife’s shaved head.

Despite the unexpected slap, the Pursuit of Happyness actor was allowed to stay at the ceremony and later won an Academy Award for his work in King Richard.
