After a T-bone collision between two automobiles propelled one into a gathering of pedestrians in front of an Austin food truck on Friday night, officials claimed at least 11 were hurt, including two gravely.

EMS Public Information Officer Christa Stedman informed reporters at the site that the “serious collision” occurred at 8:18 p.m. near the intersection of Barton Springs Road and Sterzing Street, where several food trucks had been put up.

At least one car struck “a number of pedestrians that were near the food trucks,” according to Stedman, in what was described as a “T-bone sort of incident.

According to her, all 11 of the victims were adults. A total of nine victims were transferred to local hospitals, while two others walked away from the scene and rejected treatment or transportation.

Injuries that may have been fatal were sustained by two people. More than a dozen people were hurt, two of them critically.

Transports to Dell Seton Medical Center and South Austin Medical Center included three patients each.

Neither car had anybody else inside, according to an Austin Police Department official.

Neither driver is a suspect in the inquiry, according to police. There was a hospitalisation for one of the drivers involved in the accident.

No one was injured in this incident, however police say that people were standing in front of the food truck at the time of the crash.

Authorities have not yet been able to determine what caused the occurrence, but they have stated that they are actively investigating the matter.
