Madison Cawthorn photographs show him in lingerie in public

POLITICO obtained photos of Madison Cawthorn, the embattled Republican congressman from North Carolina who recently accused his GOP colleagues of inviting him to orgies.

To be clear, Cawthorn, 26, is a conservative Baptist who bases his political persona on arch-traditional Christian principles and the importance of hypermasculinity. His comments on a podcast about “the sexual perversion” in Washington drew the ire of Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and other Republican leaders, including those in his North Carolina congressional caucus.

The two photos are the latest in a string of bad news for the freshman congressman ahead of his re-election primary. North Carolina’s primary is May 17. Cawthorn faces seven Republican challengers.

“I am a Christian,” he added. “I know Jesus Christ personally. My political ideology, my ethics and morals, and what I believe is right and wrong, all stem from ancient Judeo-Christian values. “Wrong and right,” he said. “I also cling to traditional values and ideas that have worked in the past.”

“I think we’ve bred a generation of soft men,” he said in March 2021 on a podcast “designed to reclaim and restore masculinity in a society that’s increasingly dismissive of what it means to be a man.”

“One God, two genders,” he tweeted earlier this week.

He recently called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “thug,” suggested teetotal Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a drinking problem, and amassed a list of traffic infractions including speeding, driving with expired tags, and driving with a suspended licence. His trial is in May and June.

A screenshot of the original image was not verified by POLITICO. They were provided to POLITICO by a former Cawthorn campaign official. A second former Cawthorn campaign employee confirmed the photos’ origin. It’s unclear when the photos were taken, but Cawthorn appears to be in a wheelchair, indicating it was after his accident. In the photos, he wears a distinctive pendant necklace seen in other Cawthorn photos and videos. Photo circulating among political rivals.

Multiple inquiries to Cawthorn spokesman Luke Ball went unanswered.

Cawthorn tweeted after the story came out that the photos were taken on a cruise before he was elected to Congress. It’s as if the left thinks my silly vacation photos from a cruise (before I ran for Congress) will somehow harm me. Things to throw at me are running out… Reply with your most embarrassing vacation pics.”
