After a Hiatus, Natalie Portman returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the first trailer for “Thor: Love and Thunder” looking more strong than ever.

Taika Waititi, who directed the critically acclaimed “Thor: Ragnarök,” will direct the fourth instalment in the “Thor” franchise. The film follows “Avengers: Endgame,” which ended with Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) stranded on Earth alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy after his kingdom Asgard was ablolished. The teaser begins with him as a member of the group, with Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel set to reprise their roles.  Tessa Thompson and Taika Waititi (director) who plays the rock gladiator Korg , will both return in MCU with this movie, but the teaser’s most exciting moment comes in the last seconds, when Portman’s Jane Foster is unveiled as the new Mighty Thor.

Set to the music of infamous Guns N’ Roses song “Sweet Child ‘O Mine” the trailer starts with Thor embarking on a journey of self-discovery.  “These hands were once employed for battle, but now they’re nothing more than modest tools for peace,” he says as he sets down his new hammer Stormbreaker and gazes out across the galaxy. “Now I just have to figure out who I am.” Thor can be seen saying in the trailer.

Thor departs from the Guardians of the Galaxy after a weight-loss training montage and a new suit towards the journey of pursuing his own path. He declares that his superhero days are finished and embarks on a journey throughout the cosmos with Korg. Portman finishes the teaser by summoning Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, which has been magically reassembled, revealing her comic-accurate Mighty Thor suit.

The story synopsis identifies Christian Bale’s nemesis, Gorr the God Butcher, as a killer seeking the extermination of the gods, yet there’s no mention of him in the trailer. Thor, Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane will have to work together on “a perilous cosmic quest to unravel the secret of the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.”

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Taika Waititi collaborated on the film’s script. Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum are producing the film. Marvel Studios produced the movie. After being continuously postponed owing to the COVID-19 outbreak, the film was finally shot in Sydney, Australia last year.
