PTI files appeal against IHC decision in foreign funding case

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed an intra-court appeal against the IHC decision to decide the foreign funding case in 30 days.

PTI Secretary General Asad Umar filed the intra-court appeal and maintained that the decision hints at bias toward PTI.

He also said that it seems like the incumbent commission couldn’t hold fair elections in the country.

Asad Umar maintained that the judiciary had directed to hold all parties accountable in the foreign funding case but the committee has finalized its probe only for PTI.

PTI Secretary-General urged that the proceedings should proceed in a just and transparent manner and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) should also make their foreign funding documents public.

Earlier, IHC on Thursday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to wind up the case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) within a month.

The reserved verdict was issued by IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on applications filed by the PTI seeking detachment of Akbar S Babar, who filed the case in November 2014, and keeping the PTI documents secret.
