Another Faisalabad citizen requests police to file blasphemy case against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: A Faisalabad resident on Sunday requested local police authorities to file a blasphemy case against former prime minister Imran Khan for his alleged insensitive remarks lately in a speech at party’s workers convention.

The request submitted by Mubashir Sheeraz at the Rail Bazar Thana said that the former prime minister insulted religion on April 27 in his speech, adding that on the party chairman’s behest the PTI workers violated the sanctity of Masjid-e-Nabwi.

The citizen asked police to file a case against Imran Khan under 295-C.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against 150 people, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Fawad Chaudhry, Shahbaz Gill and Sheikh Rashid, in connection with sloganeering against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation at Masjid-e-Nabwi in Saudi Arabia.

According to Faisalabad police, the case was registered at Madina Town police station at the request of a citizen named Muhammad Naeem. Former Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, Member National Assembly Rashid Shafiq and Anil Mussarat are also nominated in the FIR.

According to the FIR, 150 people led by Sheikh Rashid were sent to Saudi Arabia to conduct preplanned hooliganism. The lawsuit alleges that the incident took place under a premeditated conspiracy.

The incident occurred when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other members of his delegation arrived at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madina last Thursday, video recordings circulating on social media showed some pilgrims — likely Imran Khan supporters — chanting ‘chor’ (thief) and ‘gaddar’ (traitor).

Earlier, while giving a reaction to the incident former Prime Minister and chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that his love for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is unquestionable and that he would never incite his supporters to hoot at Masjid-e-Nabawi.

“Whatever happened in Madina was a result of their [PML-N leaders’] conduct, and I challenge these people won’t be able to appear in public places,” said Khan while giving an interview to a private news channel.
