Asia Cup: India crush Indonesia 16-0 to book place in Super 4s

India defeated Indonesia by 16 goals to nil, knocking Pakistan out of the Asia Cup as well as the World Cup.

The national team’s hopes of qualifying for the final four of the Asia Cup Hockey Tournament 2022 and then the World Cup 2023 were dashed.

Pakistan’s access to the next stage could have been possible if India had won the match against Indonesia by less than 16 goals, but it did not happen, the defence of the Indonesian hockey team proved to be a wall of sand.

The Indian team, which scored only 6 goals in the first two quarters, scored 10 goals in the last 2 quarters.

India had to win the match by a margin of 16 to make it to the final four of the Asia Cup 2022 and beat Indonesia 0-16.

With this big victory over a weak Indian team, the Pakistan team lost not only the Asia Cup but also the participation in the Hockey World Cup 2023 to be held next year.

It may be recalled that in the first match of Pool A, Pakistan lost to India in the last minute and tied the match 1-1.

In the second match, the national team scored 0-13 against Indonesia by scoring goals.

In the third match of the group against Japan, the national team had to bear the loss of only two goals with a defeat of 2-3.
