The Labor Party of Australia is in the lead as the federal election campaign enters its final week.
According to the most recent Newspoll, released on Friday night, the Labor Party leads the Coalition by a substantial 54-46 margin on a two-party preferred basis.
Since November 2020, the Coalition has trailed Labor in 20 consecutive Newspolls.
Notably, the Coalition has made no progress since Prime Minister Scott Morrison called the election on April 10.
According to Newspoll, 43 percent of respondents support Morrison as prime minister, while 42 percent choose Labor leader Anthony Albanese.
It indicates a significant shift in Albanese’s favour from Morrison’s 46-37 advantage at the end of April.
Morrison pledged to improve his leadership style if re-elected in a radical shift in tone.
Morrison, who admitted to being “a bit of a bulldozer,” pledged to sympathise more with Australians if re-elected as Prime Minister.
“I’ll try to explain my motivations and worries, and I’ll sympathise a lot more. But, at the end of the day, what matters most is that I complete the task “He stated to reporters.
In response, Albanese, who declared on Saturday that a Labor administration would increase health expenditure by 970 million Australian dollars (673 million US dollars), pledged to bring the country together.
