Brazil’s Vice President Hamilton Mourao described China as the country’s “primary and most important trading partner,” saying bilateral relations are “extremely good” and have a “amazing future.”

“I can declare for the second time that Brazil and China discourse on the important problems on our bilateral agenda on a regular, fluid, and productive basis,” Mourao stated after the 6th Plenary Meeting of the China-Brazil High-Level Commission for Coordination and Cooperation (COSBAN).

“The 6th COSBAN Plenary Meeting proved the concord between Brazil and China, as well as both sides’ readiness to work together to solve problems, identify remaining concerns, and strengthen our connections,” Mourao stated.

He emphasised that China has been Brazil’s principal trading partner since 2009, with two-way commerce increasing year after year.

“We are clear that now China plays the role of the world economy’s engine,” he added, citing its industrial capacity and 1.4 billion-person market.
