
During the latest outbreak of COVID-19 infections, a temporary hospital in Shanghai was closed down on Wednesday.
The hospital, which was built inside the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, was the first of its sort and was used during the megacity’s epidemic.
On March 26, the improvised hospital, which has a capacity of 7,300 beds, began accepting patients. Over the last two months, the hospital treated about 25,000 patients ranging in age from two to 86. The majority of them had just minor symptoms or were asymptomatic carriers.
The city health commission reported 48 confirmed locally transmitted COVID-19 infections and 290 local asymptomatic cases on Wednesday.
