Last week, Amber Heard entered the stand in a slander case in Virginia.
Johnny Depp has filed a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard over an op-ed she published for The Washington Post in 2018. She doesn’t mention him by name in the poem, but she does call herself “a public person who represents domestic abuse.” The actor is seeking $50 million in damages.
Heard has filed a countersuit against Depp, accusing him of conducting a “smear campaign” against her and labelling his own case as “abuse and harassment.” She is seeking $100 million in damages as well as immunity from his allegations.
Ms Heard entered the stand on 4 May after Depp was called as a witness. On May 5, her testimony resumed.
Mr Depp reportedly sexually attacked Amber Heard with a liquor bottle during a confrontation in Australia in 2015, according to Amber Heard. He had a broken bottle up to her face and neck at one point, she added, and warned her he would “carve up [her] face.”
Depp yanked her nightgown off her chest, and the nightgown was finally taken off entirely, leaving her naked, she told the court.
She claims Depp made her feel “dirty” about her acting career and that his envy caused her to shun roles with sex scenes and exposing clothing.
Depp also accused Heard of having relationships with several of her co-stars and once exposed her to a violent grilling over a sex scene with James co-star Franco, according to Heard.
In court, Johnny Depp refuted Amber Heard’s ‘heinous’ abuse charges, claiming, “I never reached the point of hitting Ms. Heard in any manner, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.”
The actor Johnny Depp and actress Amber Heard are taking a 10-day vacation from their defamation trial. Following Mr Depp’s lawsuit against his ex-wife in March 2019, the trial began on April 11 in Fairfax, Virginia, and will resume on May 16 at 9 a.m.
