The Pixel 4a arrived in India a few months late, but that didn’t stop it from being an instant sensation by hitting the value sweet spot something you don’t often say about Google phones. But that was two years ago, and the country in South Asia has yet to see a Google phone.

After a two-year hiatus, the Pixel 6a, a low-cost smartphone, is set to arrive in India in the coming months. There’s no better moment for the inexpensive Pixel phone to return to India, but its success is contingent on one aspect.

The Pixel 6a, on the other hand, will not be available in India anytime soon. Following the main Google I/O event, a tweet from Google India specifies “later this year” as the launch date. The situation is similar in a dozen other nations, including the United States, where the smartphone was released in July. However, this is still an improvement over the Pixel 5a, which was never released outside of Japan and the United States because to supply chain issues during the epidemic.

The Pixel 4a made its debut in India a few months after the US in 2020. Google scheduled it to coincide with the massive sales that occurred in the weeks leading up to Diwali, but the business failed to meet demand. The Diwali season often accounts for a big portion of retailers’ annual phone sales, and it could provide Google with the much-needed boost in the Indian market.

The Pixel 6a might be released in early October, if Google has identical plans this time. But that’s only a guess, and given how fragile supply chains have been recently, it would take a lot of things to go perfectly for the Pixel phone to arrive on time. A source recently stated that the Indian release could happen around the same time as the US, i.e. towards the end of July.

However, there are several drawbacks to this months-long delay. The excitement among potential buyers is expected to fade with time. And, considering the fast-paced nature of the local smartphone business, there will be plenty of choices in a few months. The capacity of Chinese smartphone manufacturers to be on their toes and quickly adapt and respond to any shift in the market, such as the Pixel 6a this time, cannot be underestimated.
