PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said his party would file a petition against the government in the apex court on Monday.
“They fired teargas shells on peaceful protestors. They tried to crush a peaceful protest. We will ask the top court if we could hold a protest or not,” Imran Khan said talking to media in Peshawar. He was flanked by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and another senior party leader Dr Yasmin Rashid.
He said the PTI never did politics of anarchy and they had decided not to form an armed wing in their party. The PTI had been holding peaceful protests for 26 years, he maintained. Hopefully, the SC would allow them to hold peaceful protests and order for protection of the protestors, he said.
“I don’t want any clash. The only thing I want is re-election and I am ready for talks regarding free and fair elections,” he said alleging that the coalition government had appointed two of the Election Commission of Pakistan members of their own. “I have asked everyone to prepare for the march from today,” he said adding that the largest party of the country did not trust the ECP.

The former prime minister said they would challenge depriving overseas Pakistanis of their votes and appointment of NAB chairman in the Supreme Court.
Everyone would be responsible if the country was destroyed, he said. He said he was telling the state institutions that the coalition government was leading the country towards catastrophe. “They have corruption cases of Rs40 billion. It is only the masses’ right to bring anyone into power. A conspiracy was hatched against our government from abroad,” he said.
On petrol, Imran Khan said former finance minister Hammad Azhar had struck a deal with Russia to buy oil on low price. India benefitted its people by buying cheap oil from Russia, however, the incumbent government did not buy cheap oil from Russia for fear of America, he relayed. He said petrol and diesel prices had been increased under pressure of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
It took only six weeks to the people to understand all the game, he said.
