Jason Momoa apologizes for photographing the Sistine Chapel.

Jason Momoa, the actor of “Aquaman,” apologized on Instagram for snapping photographs in the Sistine Chapel by sharing a sweaty, naked exercise video.

Momoa, 42, is now filming “Fast X,” the tenth episode in the “Fast & Furious” film series, in Rome. On May 9, the actor shared photos of himself beneath the iconic Michelangelo artworks that grace the chapel’s walls and ceilings. “I LOVE YOU ITALY such a lovely start to our day off enjoying ROMA,” he said in the post.

However, unhappy fans swiftly pointed out in the comments that visitors are normally prohibited from taking photographs or recordings in the Vatican City chapel. Momoa shared another video on Saturday, this time addressing the topic after a quick workout. “It’s my final day in Rome, and I really adore you and Italy,” he added as he put the dumbbells down. “If you ever got the impression that I was disrespecting your culture, it wasn’t my aim.”

He recalled having been to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel when he was 19 or 20. He gave a “contribution” for the current trip so that his film pals and crew colleagues may join him on their days off from filming “Fast X.”

“I discovered that people really wanted to snap photographs with me,” he explained. “I was polite and sought permission for what I believed would be acceptable. I would never do anything to offend someone’s culture. So, if I did, please accept my apologies.”

“I paid for that private moment and made a substantial contribution to the church,” he continued.
As of Sunday morning, the apologetic video had almost 3 million views.
